Study
We encourage all members of Ascension Church to engage with the Bible on a regular basis, as part of their growth as Christians. This can be done in a number of ways; reading or even listening at home, or at work, or on the way to work. However, what we find really helps is when we come together to share in this experience.
-Bible study in person : on Saturday mornings in church. For this, please contact Lola at:
Email: Lolakinlade@gmail.com
-Bible study Online : A group meets every Wednesday at 7.30pm - 9.00pm on Zoom
to explore what God is saying to us through the Bible.
Last topics have included:
Wednesday 10th June ( updates every Wednesday)
Start by reading the passage :
-Read Matthew 9:9-13
• Imagine the shock as Jesus approached a tax collector, an infamous sinner and traitor of the people
• Note how easily and quickly Matthew follows Jesus
1. Why are the Pharisees unhappy?
2. How is their sense of right and wrong, righteousness and unrighteousness challenged in this passage
Read the parable of the prodigal son- Luke 15:11-31
3. In what ways are the pharisees acting like the older brother in this parable?
4. Is it possible that the elder brother as equally as lost as the younger?
5. How can we ensure that we remain as grace-filled people, not relying on our own sense of
righteousness but only on Jesus?
Pray for each other, that God would plant in your heart what He has said.
